SFA’s world-best technical capabilities resulted from combining core technologies of equipment secured by the company’s development organization which is the largest in the industry and domain knowledge in equipment secured from executing a number of large-scale projects.

SFA operates one of the largest development organizations in the equipment industry, concentrating its engineering capabilities on developing next-generation equipment and expanding into new business areas by combining deep Domain Knowledge with advanced Smart Factory solutions.

The Equipment Innovation Center and the Process Equipment Development Team focus on the advanced development of core equipment for emerging industries such as secondary batteries and OLED displays, while securing fundamental and differentiated technologies for mid- to long-term growth. The AI Innovation Center is responsible for Smart Factory solutions including NEO AI and the NEO Platform, as well as AI technologies integrated into various robotic systems.

The Self-X Research Team conducts research and development on a variety of autonomous manufacturing solutions. By leveraging AI technologies, solutions are being developed that enable intralogistics systems and process equipment to recognize environmental changes and respond autonomously, while actively promoting their implementation in real-world manufacturing environments.

The Intralogistics Development Team and the Logistics Research Institute provide logistics automation consulting as well as automation solutions for manufacturing and distribution. Through the development of robotics-based material handling (MH) systems, factory automation technologies, and their integration with Smart Factory solutions, the organization continues to lead the development of next-generation equipment for the increasingly important manufacturing and distribution sectors.
